The delay travel spell into a full break down of services.
It is a common since to see passengers battling to get up the buses due to the large human traffic. The train will also be pack like sardines when it started to resume operations.
It looks like the signal fault is creating an uphill task for the operator. There may be other issues which is not visible to us and unspoken by the staffs who are aware of it. We just have to live with it as LTA try its best to resolve the issue.

The safety and integrity of the lift was the highest standard till the mandatory lift inspection was removed by the authority. Town Council will continue to engage the qualify and competent lift maintenance company to perform the routine maintenance.

We have to endure as they fine tune the system at the expense of our time. Bosses, I am late as the public transport need times to adjust accordingly.
It is Friday and the SGH ENT Clinic is packed with patients. The current bottleneck process is the payment and appointment counter. You will have to patiently wait for your turn. This may take 30 minutes to one hour.
Everyone is trying to pay attention to the staffs calling the patient to make payment and fix the next appointment. I am wondering when this process can be change or there is limitation in their work flow. My advice is to apply for the service express and skip the payment and appointment counter.

Car Park H open or covered car park offers the most economical solution to your parking needs. You can drop the patient or your love ones before proceeding to the car park.
The car park charges is $1.08 per hour. The others normal car park charge is at $2.16 per hour. Therefore you save 50% of your money.
The open car park H to Block 5 is the nearest where the walking time is 10mins or less for a healthy adult. You need to add 5 more mins of walking time for covered car park H.
Registration using the automated registration machine is fast and convenient. You can scan your IC/ID card and it will generated the slip if you have a schedule appointment. The slip will show you the clinic and room to proceed for your consultant review.
Of course, seeing the consultant still take some ample waiting time. I see this is a major improvement as you can skip the registration counter.
But now the lag is at the payment and appointment counter. Just imagine, there are at least 20 consultant rooms but only 2 staffs to serve your payment and appointment needs. You need to wait at least 30 minutes on a normal day for them to serve you. It can be quite frustrating as they use a very manual method and that is by calling name instead of utilizing the queue number.
It is time SGH looks at how NHG Polyclinic is resolving this issue. At the poly clinic, you can proceed to made payment using the automated counter or back at home using AXS or internet banking. You can then queue at the appointment counter to book your appointment.
We should learn and adopt best practices in the healthcare sector for the benefits of the patients. There is no need to re-invent the wheel but sharing among each other to improve the services together.
I will email SGH and let’s see what is their comment on the payment and appointment counter issue.
We arrive at the Same Day Admission Centre located at Block 5, Level 1.
My mum need to goes through the usual checkup such as temperature check and pressure measurement. As usual, you will be seen by a small doctor (小医生）who will take down his observations and update the case note. The doctor then ask us to wait for the ENT doctor（大医生）, who will provide us more info on the operations. The ENT doctor updated us on the operation and the risks involve although it is very minimum.
You can wait at the Same Day Admission Centre but you will be chase out after 530pm which is their closing times.
I have opted for a B2 ward ( 6 beds) but she was send to Ward 55A which is a B1 ward (4 bed aircon area). Tomorrow, I will need to check with the admission office that she got the free upgrade due to no B2 beds available.
The operation went on smoothly and was sent to the ward at around 630pm. Her throat was slice and the thyroid remove. A tube was left at the throat side to collect any excess blood from the operated area.
She feel hungry as have not taken any food since 12am. She vomited a bit as she has a empty stomach. I tried to get some food for her to filled the stomach. But the nurse said she cannot have any solid food and gave her warm Milo only. She drink the warm Milo and went to sleep. I left the place after spending 10 hours at SGH.
The overhead linkway is supposed to shield us from the rain during the wet days. But the new overhead linkway installed at Blk 672, Woodlands Drive 71 had already start to leak. On closer look, there is a gap on the roof already.
The material selected for this linkway is not desirable and had already start to corrode less than 1 year into operation. I also wonder whether they have Engineers or maintenance team doing site walk to identify facility issue.
Town Council Fees is going to raise in June 2017 and it must worth every cents we pay for conservancy charges.
It is my duty as a resident to inform the Sembawang Town Council so that they are aware of the quality of the facility installation done.
Alexandra Health had been holding the patient focus group since 2000. I have join this focus group yearly as a representive of facilities management. It had provide a good perspective from the patient view.
It gives the TOP management a chance to meet the patients and improve its service delivery. As a team, we had evolve through this service cycle. I shall not elaborate more on what is share as I may not have the rights to do so.
We are committed to deliver our duty to the north community through a close knitted team. I love my job as a facilities engineer although we work in the back room to keep the operations running. It is our duty to identify suitable vendors that can support our delicate operations to serve the community.
It is not easy for my wife and my mum to living together over the past few months. Their view on doing things differ and they both cannot give way to one another. They both love to watch TV and my mum tried to give in except for her favourite show timings. I offered to buy an additional TV. But who is going to watch the TV in the room?
My mum and wife have some different perspectives.
I know definitely my wife will not want to watch in the room. What will be my mum reaction if I ask her to watch in her room? It is really a dilemma given both of their hard character. I wish my mum would take a step back but that will not happen. She already had the feeling my wife is going against her.
Living with my children is not going to be on my card given my wife character. Then, how am I going to balance living together with my wife and mum. It is ready going to be complicated as time comes as they had develop some hard feelings.
My advise is to stay away from your children to avoid any relationship complications. Visiting them once a week and both families will stay HAPPY. But they maybe others who can stay together despite their differences if they are the easygoing type.
New house with 2 keys is aimed at solving these family issues. It is the same house but with doors to separate units. Do you have this family issue also?
I have wanted to be part of the healthcare family but unable to do so as I was trained as a engineer. Many years back, the only job that was available was the Facility which is closely related to engineering. But you hardly see any vacancy available on their job site.
My chance only came when Alexandra Health have an opportunity available. I grabbed it 3.5 years back and never look back. The company given me a rare opportunity and I learn so many things down the road. I was involve from equipments to facility to medical equipment and energy and facility. It open up a wide perspective and also many career opportunity for me. But I never left as it is near my houses and thanks to Donald who given me this valuable chance.
I reflect on this board at Woodlands Polyclinic and it remind me that I will be part of this NHG family on Oct 2017. Everyone one of us is doing our part to enhance the healthcare experience.
Facilities is just one part of the healthcare back bone support group. We can be outsource anytime if the management think we are not important or of no financial value. But I like any other Engineers hold the knowledge and key to the integration of services to ensure healthcare workers can perform their job.
