Property Tax Rebates 2009

Singapore Owner Occupied Residential Property are given an additional 40% Property Tax Rebate as announced in the Budget Statement on 22 Jan 2009. This is for the period of 01 Jan 2009 to 31 Dec 2009.

The refunds will be made to you via cheque or GIRO Bank Account. If you have any outstanding taxes that are due for payment, it will be used to offset the outstanding taxes. Any leftover amount will be refund to you. But if the fund amount is less than $15, it will be carried forward to offset your future tax liability. You may however request for a refund if you want. Email for a refund at refund@iras.gov.sg and you will get the refund back to you. The processing time is 30 days from the date the email is received by the tax Authority.

Efile Income Tax Returns 2009

Iras It is time to starting filing Income Tax again. Please start to do your Income Tax filing as the deadline approaches. Hardcopy filing must be done by 15 April 2009 while e-filing must be done by 18 April 2009.
It is easy to do e-filing online. You only need a Sing Pass or a IRAS pin given to u when you recieve the notification to do e-filing. Remember to print out the acknowledgement page after you finish the e-filing. This is proof that you have done your e-filing.

Singapore Tax Resident with two children will get a $10,000 Tax Rebates. In addition, Singapore Tax Resident with one children will also get $5,000 Tax rebates.
***IMPORTANT***
You need to apply for the Parenthood tax for first time claims for this rebate in the Main Tax Form in your Tax Portal.

Income Tax Rates 08

I guess many of you have started to received your Income Tax bill. The tax rates is the same for every tax resident in Singapore.
You are treated as a tax residents for a particular Year of Assessment (YA) if you are a:

  • Singaporean; or
  • Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR) if you have established your permanent home in Singapore; or
  • Foreigner who stayed/worked in Singapore for 183 days or more in previous year (excludes director of a company).

Otherwise, you will be treated as a non-resident for a particular YA for Singapore tax purposes.
