Something is brewing

I have feedback on the open plaza where the top is not cover with any glass or mechanical protection. It is perfect fine on sunny days. But when the rain comes, the open plaza will be wet and pose a safety hazard to the senior citizens.

A big vertical lifter is now below the top opening. Something might be happening soon.
I shall update once they have completed the works.
The works for the rain screen had been completed and will work during events only.

Bugis Junction Moldy Ceiling

Moldy Ceiling are unsightly for visitors but they are happening every where in air condition space if they are not taken care. But they do take time to form and start spreading.

Moldy Ceiling at Level 1 BHG

The above moldy ceiling maybe due to condensation form around the supply air duct. It may also be due to water dripping from above the supply air grill due to poor insulation. This may not be resolve timely due to the cost involve to do the repair and made good the ceiling. But this will cause the indoor air quality to drop due to the presence of mold.

Trains down on PSLE First Day

The trains on eastern Singapore start to have issue after 6am. This will affect PSLE students and staffs turning up on time at the examination centre on 28 Sept 2017.

This had resulted in undue stress to the parents of PSLE and the students who need to catch train to the school.

Trains having problem 2 hours prior to start of PSLE.

Not sure Ministry of Education had make any announcement.

Trains still having issue at 8am.

Let’s hope this will not add stress to our PSLE candidates. This must be additional protocol made known to public via social media by Ministry of Education.

Special Treatment for VIP and GOH

VIP (Very Important Person) and GOH (Guest of Honor) are accord with special privileges whenever they visit certain buildings or places. Their route are well planned and lift are home to serve them to their destination.

They will only see the good side of the facility and shielded away from things that are bad. This may not be good as they do not see the real reality of the society or the real facility issue that are build for the community.

Many advance party members will ensure that the facility they visit are in tip top condition. No work are allowed to occur on the path that they are taking.

The public however will still take the opportunity to feedback to the VIP and GOH on facility issue or community problems. There are free to comment as it strive to improve our society. Staffs are not able to make comment due to restriction accord to them due to company policy.

It is difficult to change the work culture but learn to live with it. Stay HAPPY.

Ghost Festival 2017 Prayers

The Ghost Festival is a traditional festival for the Chinese. There are now many educated Chinese who now no longer believe in the tradition. But there is no stopping of others who still believe in this special festival. It is up to individual on their belief.

Everyone queuing up to place their joy stick into the urn after the end of the prayer session.

Do you believe in this special festival?

Cashless MRT Stations

From Sept 1, 11 stations had been selected to go cashless. Admiralty MRT is one of them and I will need to made some adjustment. Currently I and my wife is already going cashless. But what about my children? They do not have atm or debit card.

Thus, it will inconvenience me as I have to do the top up for them. They cannot do it independently. I have not sure whether LTA have thought about it. I am definitely not going to ask them to top up at convenience stores as there are additional charges involved.

This is Singapore style, enforce the rules to ensure you comply to their policy. So remember to made adjustment to your travel needs.

The 11 stations going cashless are Admiralty, Bedok, Bukit Panjang, Buona Vista, Farrer Park, HarbourFront, Hougang, Lakeside, Pasir Ris, Serangoon and Yew Tee.

Hot Weather 22 July 2017

The ambient temperature is 31 degree and relative humidity is at 59% indoor.  Outdoor temperature will be 2 degrees higher.

It is best keep your space well ventilated. You will still feel the heat even with the fan circulating to keep your body cool. But the breeze from the fan will allow your skin to evaporate faster and keeping your skin cool.

North East Line Down 8 July 17

The North East Line went down in the wee hours of Saturday.

Information is up but with a small mistake which I think you can spot easy.
(Picture credit of my FB friends)

The delay travel spell into a full break down of services.

It is a common since to see passengers battling to get up the buses due to the large human traffic. The train will also be pack like sardines when it started to resume operations.

It looks like the signal fault is creating an uphill task for the operator. There may be other issues which is not visible to us and unspoken by the staffs who are aware of it. We just have to live with it as LTA try its best to resolve the issue.

Leaking OverHead Linkway

The overhead linkway is supposed to shield us from the rain during the wet days. But the new overhead linkway installed at Blk 672, Woodlands Drive 71 had already start to leak. On closer look, there is a gap on the roof already.

The material selected for this linkway is not desirable and had already start to corrode less than 1 year into operation. I also wonder whether they have Engineers or maintenance team doing site walk to identify facility issue.

Town Council Fees is going to raise in June 2017 and it must worth every cents we pay for conservancy charges.

It is my duty as a resident to inform the Sembawang Town Council so that they are aware of the quality of the facility installation done.

Gas leaking in Riser

There was gas leaking out of my gas riser room outside my flat. I have verified it is not from my cooker as there are no gas smell in the kitchen.

Gas meter
The gas meter is not running when I off the cooker.

I have no alternative but to activate City Gas in the evening. The service team came one hour after the activation. They check with a gas meter and verified it was not from my piping. Their suspicion is from the flat below. The town gas is lighter and will rise up through the ventilation provided in the riser room.

Thus they went to the flat below us to conduct their investigation. The City Gas never update me and I leave it in their good hands.

Collect Transcript at ITE

It is your responsibility to ask for the complete information on the collection procedure for the transcript.

The customer service will inform that you can collect the transcript at the three customer service centres of ITE. But if you never inform them that someone else is doing the collrction on your behalf, then you only have half the information.

Transcript is a control item. You need a authorization letter to collect it on someone else behalf.

Yishun Massive Human Jam

There was a track fault earlier in the morning at Choa Chu Kang according to the PA announcement at Admiralty Station. This had caused the frequency of trains to increase to 5 minutes. I still managed to get on the train at Admiralty. But then you will feel like a sardine after it leave Sembawang station.

Yishun Station
The south bound platform form a snakey queue all the way to the north platform.

I was glad that I am exiting the station at this point of time. It is tough for the Yishun residents especially if you are travelling towards the city.

Yishun Station
Massive jam at the entrance of Yishun MRT fare gate

The fare gate were reprogram to two entrances only. This is a measure to stem the human traffic flow into the station. But the down side, is a bottle neck will form outside the station.

If you plan to buy your home in Yishun, do give a second thought especially if you are going to use the south platform during peak hours.

Yishun MRT Over Crowding

It is a wet day this morning due to the medium shower. But this impact the efficiency of the south bound train. I still managed to get on my usual train at Admiralty. It stop on the track for at least 4 mins each  before reaching  the Sembawang and Yishun MRT. This will give bigger impact to Yishun MRT.

Up riding escalator was stop as the platform were filled with people queuing for the south bound trains

Train are moving slower due to the wet weather. Isn’t it a familiar announcement?
