Change Car Battery

This is probably the last time I am going to change my car battery. It had dropped to 198CCA and it may goes faulty anytime if I am not lucky. In addition, mine is an off peak car which I drive during weekend only.

This new Bosch battery give me 591CCA which is above the specs of 560CCA.

What is CCA?
Cold cranking amps (CCA) is a measurement of the number of amps a battery can deliver at 0°F for 30 seconds and not drop below 7.2 volts. So a high CCA battery rating is especially important in starting battery applications, and in cold weather.This measurement is not particularly important in deep cycle batteries, though it is the most commonly “known” battery measurement.

My Kia Cerato II had completed the repair and was ready for collection. It takes about slightly more than a week to get back my car. But the workshop informed me investigation is still on going.

I will get my transport claims from my insurer after the investigation had been completed. The car was nicely done up and look like new once again.

Petrol Pumping Tips

These are the compiled Petrol Pumping tips which will save your money, fuel and even your car maintenance fees. It is up to you to believe it or not:

1. It is best to fuel in the morning as the ground temperature is still cold. Petrol will expand under heat and therefore not advisable to pump during sunny days. A litre of Petrol may not be a litre u are getting.

2. Please top up fuel by the amount of litres and not by the amount of money.

3. For long distance travel, pump full tank and the fresh Petrol will give your engine the boast.

4. For city travel, just pump half or three quarter tank. There are many stoppages due to the traffic lights.

5. If you do not drive frequently, just pump half tank as the Petrol inside the tank will change in quality over time.

6. If you find a Petrol Tanking topping up the underground tank, do not buy fuel. The dirt below the underground tank will be stir up during the pumping and may end up in your fuel tank.

Let’s conserve fuel for earth. Then if everyone followed my tips then there will be no customers during office hours. 🙂

Renew OPC Car Road Tax

I have come out this checklist to ensure that you have done it correctly in order for you to renew your OPC Car Road Tax.

Step 1
Source for your best insurance quotes and purchase the motor car insurance. NTUC Income is probably one of the most affordable motor insurer.

Step 2
Go to a Vehicle Inspection Centre to do your number plate inspection(OPC Cars). In addition, you may need to do a vehicle inspection if necessary.

Step 3
Get the Number Plate Inspection Certificate and Vehicle Inspection Report(if necessary) together with your new insurance cover to renew your road tax. This can be done at all LTA approve vehicle inspection centre.

It is as easy as 123 to renew your OPC Car  Road Tax.

Enjoy a long weekend on Singapore National Day where your kids will be off from 7 August 2010(Saturday) to 10 August 2010(Tuesday). But you need to take leave as 10 August 2010 and is a schedule school holiday only. But if you working in MOE Schools then you are probably excluded from taking leave since school are not opened.

Kia Cerato 1000 KM Servicing

I have send my car for my 1000 KM servicing today at the Upper Thomson Satellite Service Centre in Upper Thomson Area in the North of Singapore. It takes less than three hours for the servicing to be done and it cost S$48 excluding GST. It is quite convenient as Cycle and Carriage has got four service centres in Singapore at the North,South, West and East location. You can have a light snack and coffee / tea while you wait at the Service Centre. Newspaper and Internet Surfing is also available at the lounge for customers waiting for the car to be service. The customer service office will contact you once the servicing has been completed.

My Kia Cerato Variant 2

I have bought my Kia Cerato Variant 2 for less than $45,000 and enjoy $2000 of accessories. This is a sedan car that fits my budget and I enjoy another S17000 off as it is a weekend car. I was lucky to get the COE at above $10k and not the recent $2 COE.

Today is a big day as I am collect my first car. I hope I have made a good decision to buy this car as not sure of the reliability. But I am not much worried as Cycle & Carriage will not disappoint the consumers. They have good after sales and technical support.

Cycle & Carriage is also generous, as they have paid the road tax, registration cost and other miscellaneous cost for me. All you need is just to pay the initial deposit of $1K, first month loan and your insurance fees.
