Town Council Fees
Town Council bills are due on the first day of every month. Please remember to pay on time or the latest by the 7th of every month. If you do not pay on time, you will receive a reminder or a fine of S$5 by your respective Town Council. You can choose to pay by GIRO but you must remember to have enough funds in your bank. Other methods of payment include AXS, SAMS Station, Internet Banking and vPost. You just need to key in your NRIC account for AXS and vPost and you will be able know the amount due and pay the Town Council. There is no credit card payment option available except when your bank send a promotional letter for bill payments by credit card with Town Council option.
Hand, Food and Mouth Disease Spreads
The Hand, Food and Mouth Disease(HFMD) has started to spread and the Ministry of Health has ordered Two Pre-School Centre and Five Child Care Centre to closed for ten days. In addition, a further seven preschools and six childcare centres with sustained transmission will be advised to consider voluntary closure for 10 days. Closure of a centre will assist in breaking the transmission of HFMD cases and allow the centre to thoroughly clean the premises. It is most likely to affect working parents who have nobody to look after their kids.
We have called all parents to have contingency plans previously and I hope most of you are prepared for this crisis. It have happen in the Year 2000 and now it has resurface in year 2008. Together with the Ministry of Health, Parents, Pre-School Centre and Childhood Centre working together, we can break the spread of HFMD again. Backup Mobile Phone Contacts
You are now able to backup your contacts to the memory Card on your phone. No more losing the contacts on your phone if your mobile phone is spoilt or accidentally deleting the contacts.
You can backup contacts by following the below steps
1. Press Menu and Select Contacts
2. Go to new contact and select Options on the left soft key
3. Select Advanced
4. Select Backup to m.card
5. Backup created on your memory card
You can restored your backup details by choosing the Restore from m.card. You can choose whether you want to delete the old contacts from the phone before restoring your contacts. This function is available on most Sony Ericsson models released in 2008.
Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection
You must have a Nintendo DS, wireless router and a broadband conncetion to connect to the Nintendo WFC Network. You will be able to play the NDS game with other online users worldwide. The most easiest method is to use the "Search for an Access point" feature.

Okay, great. You’ve chosen to connect using the "Search for an Access Point" feature.
At the Setup screen, tap Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings:

The Nintendo DS will then display the name of your wireless access point.
My Access Point has a blue, unlocked icon:
If your Access Point has a blue, unlocked icon, tap the Access Point name, and then ‘OK.’ The Nintendo DS will then establish a connection with your router. Back out to the main screen of your game and your ready to play online. It’s that easy!
My Access Point has a red, locked icon:
If your Access Point has a red, locked icon, the Nintendo DS has detected WEP key security on your router. Tap the Access Point name on the Nintendo DS and then enter the WEP key for your router on the following screen and tap ‘OK’ to save the settings. Tap ‘OK’ again and the Nintendo DS will then establish a connection with your router. Back out to the main screen of your game and your ready to play online. It’s that easy! It does not support router with WPA key security.
My Access Point has a gray, locked icon:
If your Access Point has a gray, locked icon, the Nintendo DS has determined your router’s security settings are not supported by the Nintendo DS. In order to connect to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, you will need to either switch to WEP security, or remove the security setting of your router when connecting with the Nintendo DS.

2nd Opinion
My father went to the National Cancer Centre for his first appointment. We have decided on this second opinion as Tan Tock Seng Hospital Onologist is not very professional. Seeing an onologist at TTSH is just like seeing a GP at the polyclinic. They only ask about how is your condition and rather give you an update of the condition unless u ask.
The consultant at National Cancer Centre has told my father that the cancer cells has started to spread. It has affected the bone also and developed into five or six tumours. The consultant advised my father to participate in a chemotherapy treatment and he will be briefing me about the studies this Friday.
I will update all of my friends and relatives this weekend again.

PAP Kindergarden Mass Registration
The PAP Kindregarden Mass registration will start this week for internal students and open to the public on 5 May 2008. Parents must prepare the necessary documents to bring for the registration for their children. The fees structured has been raised for the PAP Kindergarden and you can check it out at the respective registration centre. But PAP still remains the most afforable kindergarden education as it cost below S$110 for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents. Balloting will be held if demand exceed the vacancy available.

Changing Fonts on UIQ Devices
You can change the fonts on your UIQ devices. You need to copy the fonts files into your memory card. You must place the files in X:/resource/fonts/ where X: represent your memory card.
There will be four fonts files inside the folder. If you do not have the above folder, you can create yourself using Windows Explorer. Everytime, you can only load 1 type of fonts in your UIQ. Delete the four files in the font folder before u download new fonts files to the folder. Restart your UIQ device after u copy the new fonts files.

PAP Kindgarden Fees Raise
PAP Kindergarden will be raising their fees structure with effect from 1 July 2008. My daughter centre will be charging S$110 as it is an Air-Con Kindergarden. There will be no changes to the material fees cost.
The reason for the fees raised given by PCF are
- rising operational cost
- retaining qualified staffs
- funding training programs for staffs
- acquiring resources and equipments
Families who have financial diffiulty can apply for the KIFAS(Kindergarden Financial Assistance Scheme) to offset the kindergarden fees. This scheme is available for Singapore Citizens or children who are permanent residents of Singapore(PR) with at least one member of their immediate family a Singapore Citizen.
One Phone Number for Life
The era has finally arrive in Singapore, all mobile phone users will get to keep one mobile phone number for life. The full mobile number portability will kicks in on 13 June 2008. Consumers will be able to keep their existing mobile number when they switch mobile operators.
Porting Existing Number
Currently we need to port our existing number to another mobile operator. One time administration fee will apply unless waive by the mobile operator due to promotion. It takes one working day to port the existing number to another telco. Your existing mobile number will then appear on another party’s caller-ID when you Call, SMS or MMS.
Ported Already
Subscribers who have switched operators and currently have their calls forwarded from their old mobile numbers, will be moved to the new service for free. From April 22, the telcos will start informing the 130,000 subscribers using the call-forwarding service to decide which number they would like to keep. They will have until May 14 to decide, and the migration will be completed by June 13.
Telcos will offer more competitive prices and plans in their bid to keep their existing subscribers. There will not be any price war but of course there will be promotions to lure consumers to switch Telcos.
Hand, Food and Mouth Disease
PAP Kindergardens and other Child Care Center are on high alert now as the number of Hand, foot and Mouth disease (HFMD) is on the rise. All PAP kindergarden has always has temperature check before admitting the students for lesson.
More than 1,000 children fell ill last week, the highest number of weekly infection since 2001. HFMD is endemic in Singapore with children catching the virus almost daily. Symptoms include fever, a headache, sore throat and a red dash – usually on the limbs and in the mouth – that gives the illness its name.
All parents has also put contingency plan into action should child care center or kindergarden need to close down due to the HFMD. Previously, it happen and parents were at a loss of where to send their children to when Ministry of Health decided to close down a child care center to disinfect the place. So if parents are both working, you must have a plan should this happen again so that it will not affect your work schedule.

Income Tax Filing
It is time to starting filing Income Tax again. Please start to do your Income Tax filing as the deadline approaches. Hardcopy filing must be done by 15 April 2008 while e-filing must be done by 18 April 2008.
It is easy to do e-filing online. You only need a Sing Pass or a IRAS pin given to u when you recieve the notification to do e-filing. Remember to print out the acknowledgement page after you finish the e-filing. This is proof that you have done your e-filing.

Drawing Contest
There was another funfilled function organised by the RC Committe today. My daughter attended a drawing contest. She also get free coupons from her PAP kindergarden to attend the events. You get free food, goodie bags and play games. It is to help residents to bond in the Admiralty area. Prime Minister Lee also visited this community event and my daughter was lucky enough to shake hands with him. A rare and special moment. My son, Brian shook hands with our MP, Ellen Lee.
Admiralty RC and PAP Kindergarden has always team up to organise major community events. If you attracted the children, then the parents and neighbours will all be coming. A good strategy as employed by MacDonald.

Moving music into the W910, Sony Walkman series is easy and simple. You do not necessary need the music software that comes with your W910. You can drag and drop the music files using Window Explorer.
Drag and drop the music files into X:/Music/
X represent your W910 memory or the M2 Card. Put all the music files in the Music Folder. It is best to create a folder in the Music Folder for good management of your music files.
Select Media from the standby screen, you will notice that the software is now automatically updating your music files for it to be play on the W910 Walkman phone. You can create playlist to manage your music files on your phone. Enjoy your music on the go.
